Christmas Chocolate Tree Recipe

Ingredients
  • 300g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups roasted nuts, chopped
  • cake sprinkles for decorating
  • icing sugar to sprinkle over to finish

Procedures:
  • First, you will need to use templates crossed on nonstick baking paper. See photo. You will need one in each of the following sizes: 16 cm, 13 cm, 10 cm, 7 cm and 4 cm. Use a pencil dark enough should turn the paper to put the chocolate in - do any ink on chocolate. You also have to make a 19cm but I suggest you do this directly on the surface to be present in the tree. This may be a pie plate or plate etc.
  • In a medium bowl, melt chocolate microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir until smooth. You may have another 30 seconds.
  • Mix through the nuts. Let the mixture cool slightly, enough so that the chocolate holds its shape and does not spread when spoons are placed on the paper.
  • Spoon the chocolate with a small spoon is easier, along junctions to form the tree branches.
  • Decorate the branches with cake sprinkles.
  • Chocolate sets put an extra tablespoon in the center of each cross that this will help to give height and form of the tree trunk when assembled Keep the remaining hot chocolate on a bowl of hot water while the tree is placed. When you are sure the branches are set, again place a spoonful of chocolate in the center of the branch beginning with cross base 19cm.
  • Place ontop 16cm branch back to their branches are among the basic branches. See the photo of the finished tree. You have to play to get the balance right, sometimes just adding a small piece walnut under one side is all that is needed. Continue all crosses.
  • Leave the Christmas tree chocolate to set. Sprinkle with icing sugar, chocolate tree come alive when you do this - the magic of Christmas.

Ingredients
4 cups malagkit (sticky rice)
1 cup white sugar
4 cups water
1/4 cup butter
Topping:
1 can condensed milk
1 cup coconut milk
3 Tbsp molasses

Procedures: 

  • Wash and drain the rice sticky. Combine sugar and water and cook in rice cooker. Once the switch is re-heated, add butter. Mix well and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 300 F.
  • Spread rice mixture in a greased baking pan / dish. With a greased wooden spoon, smooth the rice mixture until the surface is uniform. Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine topping ingredients in a small saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Pour over rice mixture. Increase oven temperature to 350 ° F and bake for another 15 minutes. Turn the broiler to low and continue cooking until the coverage is all bubbly. Allow to cool.

Ingredients
150g dark chocolate , broken into chunks
200g butter
200g soft brown sugar
150g self-raising flour
40g cocoa powder , sifted
3 large eggs , beaten
50g dried cranberries
100g macadamia nuts
60g cranberry sauce

Procedures: 

  • Heat the oven to 180C / 160C fan / gas 4 and line 20 cm x 20 cm baking tin with baking paper. Black Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave or in a heatproof bowl over boiling water only.
  • Mix powdered sugar, flour and cocoa and mix with the melted chocolate and butter mixture, followed by the eggs. Stir through the dried cranberries and macadamia nuts, and then through the cranberry sauce swirl.
  • Pour into pan and smooth the surface. Bake for 25 to 30 min. Let cool before slicing.

The Thanksgiving Menu

I finally sat down (I had to while waiting at the tire store) and got my Thanksgiving menu put together.  This year I am keeping is pretty simple since it will just be my little family I am feeding. Ingredients:

Procedures:
  • Tilapia Skillet. Set aside.
  • In another pan, saute garlic, onion and tomatoes.
  • Add water and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add the beaten egg and fish sauce. Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Add tilapia and cook for 5 minutes.

Ingredients: 
3 dozenChange Servings
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
36 chocolate mint wafer candies

Procedures: 

  • In a large skillet over low heat, cook butter, sugar and water until butter is melted. Add chocolate chips and stir until partially melted. Remove from heat and continue stirring until chocolate is completely melted. Pour into a large bowl and let stand 10 minutes to cool slightly.
  • At high speed, beat the eggs, one at a time into the chocolate mixture. Reduce speed to low and add dry ingredients, beating until blended. Cool the mass of approximately 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Roll dough into balls and place on ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes. While baking cookies unfold mints and divide each half. When the biscuits leaving the oven, set 1/2 of mint on top of each cookie. Let stand for 5 minutes until the mint until melted, then spread the mint on top of the cookie.

Roasted Ranch Potatoes

This was one of those recipes that is so delicious you can hardly believe it is so simple to make! The whole family loved it.  I will be putting it on the family favorite list!!

Roasted Ranch Potatoes
from Hidden Valley Ranch Packet
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 packet (1 ounce) Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix
2 pounds small red potatoes, quartered (I used Russet potatoes and diced them into bite sized pieces)

Instructions
Place potatoes in a gallon-size food Storage Bag and add oil; seal bag. Toss to coat. Add salad dressing mix and toss again until coated.

Bake in ungreased baking pan at 450°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until potatoes are brown and crisp.
Oh YUM!! I'm craving some right now!!

Ingredients: 6 servings
2 (10 ounce) bags pre-washed fresh spinach
2 tablespoons garlic, minced
5 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Procedures:
Wash the spinach leaves and place in a microwave dish. Add juice of butter, garlic and lemon. Cover with plastic wrap. Steam in the microwave until the butter melts and the spinach is tender, about 2 minutes. Remove the plastic wrap and stir to distribute seasoning before serving.

Ingredients 4 Serving
1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
5 tablespoons soy sauce
2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup chopped green onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Procedures: 
  • Place meat in a shallow dish. Mix soy sauce, sugar, green onion, garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil and black pepper in a small bowl. Pour over beef. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • Oil Preheat a grill outdoors to high heat, and lightly grilled.
  • Quickly grill beef on hot grill until lightly charred and cooked, 1-2 minutes per side.

Ingredients:
  • 4-5 pound beef brisket
  • Salt
  • 1-2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 large onions, sliced
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 sprig thyme
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • 3-4 bay leaves
  • 2 cups of beef stock
  • 2-3 large carrots, peeled and cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 Tbsp mustard (optional)
Procedures:
Prepare cooking chest. On one side of the skirt should not be a fat, whatever you want. If there are any large pieces of fat, cut it off and discard. Large pieces of fat will not be able to do completely. With a sharp knife, fat in parallel lines, about 3/4-inch apart. Cut through the grease, no meat. Repeat in the opposite direction to make a crosshatch pattern. Skirt salt well and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

You will need an oven-proof, heavy-bottomed pot with a cover, or a Dutch oven, which is wide enough to hold the breast roasted with a little space for onions. Pat dry and place the breast with fat side down, in the pan and place over medium-high heat. Cook for 5-8 minutes, slightly hot, until the fat side is nicely browned. (If the roast seems to be cooking too quickly, reduce heat to medium. Want a steady sizzle, not a guarantor furious.) Turn the breast and cook for a few minutes more to brown the other side.

When the breast has browned, remove it from the pan and set aside. There must be a couple of tablespoons of rendered fat in the pot, if not, add a little olive oil. Add the chopped onion and increase heat to high. Sprinkle some salt over onions. Saute, stirring frequently, until onions are lightly browned, 5-8 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1-2 minutes more.

Beef Brisket Pot Roast - Beef Recipes | Quick Beef Recipe Beef Brisket Pot Roast Recipe TipsPreheat oven to 300 ° F. Use kitchen string to attach the bay leaves, rosemary and thyme. Move the onion and garlic to the sides of the pot and nestle inside the skirt. Add the beef broth and herbs tied. Bring the broth to a boil. Cover pot, place the pan in the oven to 300 ° F and cook for 3 hours. Gently turn the brisket every hour to cook evenly. After 3 hours, add carrots. At this point, you have two options. You can serve as is, or you can make a sauce with the fat and some of the onions. If you serve as is, skip this step. To make a sauce, remove the carrots and half of the onion, set aside and cover with foil. Pour the remaining ingredients into the pot in a blender and puree until smooth. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of mustard to the mix. Place in a small saucepan and keep warm.

Serve the brisket, sliced ​​1/4-inch to 1/2-inch, against the grain of the meat, onions, carrots and gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted or cooked egg noodles or polenta.

Ingredients:

1 pound Lechon, cut in cubes
1/4 cup Vinegar
1/8 cup Soy Sauce
1 cup Water
1/2 head Garlic, minced
1 piece Bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper
1 tablespoon Sugar
1/2 cup Lechon Sauce

Cooking Time : 25 minutes

Procedures:
1. Put the Lechon in a pot, add garlic, vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaf, sugar and water. Bring to a boil.
2. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes until the skin is soft piglet and the liquid has reduced by half.
3. Add the lechon sauce, salt and pepper and cook for another 10 minutes. Serve

Armadillo Potatoes

  Growing up in Idaho, the potato harvest is such a big deal we always got 2 weeks off of school for it.  Once you were old enough you worked in the potato harvest, which was hard, dirty and often boring work, but it provided a great paycheck!! I have been on a potato craze lately.  Maybe I am missing the potato harvest time..who knows!  But just a warning there will be a few potato posts in the near future. These potatoes where delicious and fairly simple to make.  Who cannot like the name!!
Armadillo Potatoes
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Wash the desired amount of potatoes.
Cut them in slices being careful not to cut all the way though, you want the bottom still intact.
Brush with melted butter or olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
*Use any seasoning you like on potatoes.
Bake for 40-45 minutes. 
I drizzled a little more butter on them about half way through the cooking process.
It was a good way to get the kids to eat the skin and all!
Some of my family dipped the slices in Ranch, others in ketchup and some just ate them plain.
YUM!!
